Warrants Issued for Norwood Drive Shooting Tommy Murphy Staff Writer LaGrange Police have issued warrants for the arrest of a local man involved in a shooting, allegedly over a vehicle theft. Thursday afternoon, around 1:15 p.m., officers with the LaGrange Police Department responded to the 900 block of Norwood Drive in reference to reports of gunshots fired. Officers arrived and made contact with Kwesi Dowell who advised that the shots had been fired between him and a male subject over a stolen vehicle. Around the same time police were speaking with Dowell, officers made contact with the other subject at the LaGrange Police Department. During the subsequent investigation by the LaGrange Police Department Criminal Investigations Section, it was determined that the second male and a female had gone to Norwood Drive in regards to locate the vehicle, which reportedly belonged to him. After he made contact with Dowell trying to get the car back, Dowell reportedly pulled a firearm and pointing it him and the female. The victims then retreated toward their vehicle at which time Dowell began shooting at them. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the incident. Warrants were later issued for the arrest of Dowell on two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. As of press time, Dowell has not been taken into custody for the incident. This incident is still under active investigation by the LaGrange Police Department Criminal Investigations Section.
