Teen Killed, Two Others Injured in Hogansville Road Shooting

A 16-year-old teen was shot and killed during indiscriminate gunfire after an event on Hogansville Road Friday night. At least two other teens were shot during the incident. LaGrange Police Department began investigating the incident around 10:22 p.m. on Friday when they were called to the bar as well as LaGrange Car Wash on Vernon Street in reference to reports of multiple individuals who had been shot.

Police arrived on Vernon Street and found Dewberry in a vehicle with a gunshot wound to his upper torso. The 16-year-old driver also had gunshot wound to his leg.

Both victims were transported to WellStar West Georgia Medical Center. Dewberry was pronounced deceased at Well Star shortly after arrival.

A third victim, a 17-yearold female, was also discovered and transported hospital with non-life- threatening gunshot wounds.

According to police, incident occurred at the end of a teen gathering at Mason’s World. Police say that as the event was ending at least two groups of teenagers got into an altercation that escalated to indiscriminate gunfire, which resulted in at least three persons being shot, including one death.

This incident is still under active investigation by the LaGrange Police Department Criminal Investigation Section.
