1 Peter 3:15 (ESV) “… but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect”

1 Peter 3:15 (ESV) “… but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,”
In the world today we are seeing the values and principles of Scripture being attacked and pushed out of society. Believers in Christ from all over the world are being pressured to conform to the cultures and institutions around them. With the advent of modern technology, we are witnessing a level of violence that has not been seen before. The signs concerning the end times given by Jesus in (Matt.24:3-14; Lk.21:5-19) are taking place now. Division in society has grown to an unprecedented level and begun to develop in the Body of Christ. Brothers and sisters are also being persecuted and killed in the world for the sake of Jesus Christ. In all of this, there is hope. Believers across the world have this hope in them everywhere and in every place they step foot.
In our passage today the Apostle Peter wrote to Believers in a culture that was opposed to the Gospel of Christ. Opposed to the faith and life that followers of Jesus exemplified. Believers were being persecuted for their faith and killed. The culture around them was negative and hostile toward their faith. To combat the fear, the Apostle Peter reminded them to establish Jesus as Lord in their hearts. Do not let the imposing culture and the negative impact take control of your hearts. Today we are surrounded by destructive images of danger, news of diseases, murders, and attacks on our faith. The word of God reminds us to make Jesus Christ Lord in our hearts. Do not allow fear of the surrounding circumstances and situations take control of our hearts. When people begin to see Believers with a heart governed by Christ, they will be drawn to them. As our verse says, this will be an opportunity to present the Gospel of Christ and share about the hope that is in us.
