Escaped Troup County Jail Inmate  Apprehended in Alabama

Authorities have located an inmate who somehow managed to escape from the Troup County Jail over the weekend.

Timothy Lane Traffansted was apprehended in Chambers County, AL after absconding from jail sometime prior to Friday afternoon when the Troup County Sheriff’s Office announced that he was missing.

When jailers could not locate Traffansted, a be-on-the- lookout warning was issued along with a booking photo notifying the public. The 55-year-old Traffansted was not considered to be of any threat or a danger to the community, as he was not being held on violent charges.

Traffansted was later confirmed to have escaped after his prison clothes were found outside the jail facility.

Traffansted was captured Sunday afternoon in Chambers County. Details of his arrest or how he managed to escape the Troup County Jail have not been released at this time.

At the time of his escape, Traffansted was in jail for an Entering Auto Theft charge and he was being held without bond for a Felony Probation Violation. Additional charges are likely to be added.
